I like the choppy framerate of the old Flash games and the whole love letter to the early 2000s but I was expecting more from this! The character can't fall from the gaps and there aren't any obstacles or enemies I have to dodge or jump on...not even collectables. An endless platform runner has potential, but this needs more substance to it

Bonus points: Using the World's Hardest Game music....good move on you!!

ill try to improve!! Thanks for the advice :D

It was an honor to be a part of this collab! I thought you had to fight against the crane but it was a cute little collection game which is still pretty cool!

    Tyhond responds:

    This collab is great :>

This is a pretty solid work; I am also sorry you didn't get to submit this to the Game Jam on time too. This would have been a pretty fun game for the theme

The controls are pretty solid and the concept of having to push back the game over screen is an innovative take and would probably be something from a real-life Nokia game. Good work

    Sjhillustration responds:

Thank you! It was an idea for a bigger game but it suited the theme!

A decent concept and you have a nice mechanism where the spikes change sides. The controls and overall feel of the game feel very fluid too

My only flaws are that the respawn is wonky and you should change the square sprite and make it darker to add better contrast even though I could see good enough, not everyone will.

    Good work so far

    Cyclone17 responds:

    Thx. I'm working on it

I know you are using Construct for the first time, and it's great you are experimenting with the program and making stuff like this, but I don't believe Newgrounds is the right place to submit barebones experimental projects.

I really hope you continue using Construct 2 and progressively get the hang of it, but this is a site for projects that are more "functional and complete" if you know what I mean; It's okay if you can't make something like the stuff on the frontpages, but you should take this project and continue it by learning how to make basic opponent AI, laps, and a timer once you get more experience with Construct 2.

Good luck on your journey with Construct 2 :)

    Frikinfre3zy responds:

Thanks for your feedback, and I will reassure you that I am learning construct two right now and will be working on better games and stuff, I honestly just wanted to be able to release a game to here since I have been trying to put a scratch game on here for a long time.

For something made in 48 hours, this isn't that bad. I really dig the whole retro edutainment aesthetic. I also love the little twist when you go to the fence where that weird rabbit stands behind

    xxmitt3nsxx responds:

tysm! i really appreciate the feedback

This was a pretty addicting game with plenty of potential. It does have noticeable flaws though

    The good:
    - Original and fun concept
    - Cool meme references
    - Fast paced gameplay that keeps you on your toes
    - Gameplay changes a little as you advance through the levels with the faster camera and higher kill count requirement, removing the menial and repetitive feel many games like these have.

The things that could be better:
    - The screen is a bit too narrow; Maybe widen the screen for games like these
    - Some of the obstacles are placed in a way where injury is inevitable, especially with those damn trucks. I understand coding things to be generated in random places is difficult enough but maybe add a variable where a certain pattern of obstacles is generated based off a random integer
    - The hitboxes are a little wonky

In general, decent job! I believe you worked hard on this project and had some fun with it.

(I am formerly histlebub) Autist consuming nuclear tacos and living each day as if it were the 2000s. I do logo bumpers, x-ray art, and icons. If you dig seeing the innards of characters, you've come to the right place.
